So, I am now here in Cochabamba with my companion Silke. Our journey was a rough one but, we made it. It all started in Las Vegas for me and Phoenix for her. We both flew American Airlines and we were going to connect up in Miami and do the rest of the trip together. However, there were a few bumps along the way. Right from the start, American Airlines didn't want to let either of us get on our planes because we didn't have visas (we were going to get visas in Bolivia because we were told we could do that). With a little persuasion and persistence we both made it through. I got on my plane but, Silke's got delayed. I made it to Miami with 2 course until the next flight. I boarded the plane and Silke still hadn't landed. Finally, I get a text from her 10 minutes before take off. Her flight crew tries to let everyone know that she needs to get off the plane first but no one listens. Our plane takes off but, Silke never made it. So, I'm on my way to Santa Cruz, Bolivia and Silke has to wait 24 hours until the next flight. I went through customs and immigrations in Santa Cruz to get my visa. There weren't too many problems. They just wanted to see: my passport, my hotel reservation, my return flight and my $160. After that, it was just a short 45 minute flight to Cochabamba where I met our manager and the family we would be living with for 3 months. Silke just went through the same process a day later.
So far, we have been here for less than a week and we have been super busy but, we have been having fun. It's hard to juggle a 20hr work week, fit in 9 credits and still have fun and explore. We're making it work though! On the second or third day, I went to get a chip for my cell phone. I went to the Tigo store and showed my passport. Then, I just payed $3 for a week of WhatsApp and 1000mb of data. We heaven't gotten to know much of the city yet but, we're working on it. We have been to the church a few times and the grocery store. The family we live with is very kind and always wants to help us with everything. We are really comfortable in our little roof top apartment. I think these 3 months are going to be amazing. They will fly by.
